Get Healthy-Get Fit

I must admit, a few years ago I never envisioned that I could gain a pound. A mean, my metabolism and I were bffs, but that didn’t mean I was healthy. I ate every and anything my palate could tolerate. Fast forward a few years ahead and  here I am, super health conscious (for the most part) and struggling everyday to keep myself contained as far as my health is concerned. See, my theory is that I want to be able to live a long and healthy life, not a long and ‘mostly-sick’ life. If I have anything to do with it, I will provide for my body, mind, spirit and, soul the necessary ingredients they need so as to lead a good life.

I use to think eating health was boring, tasteless and expensive. I was wrong. I became an avid healthy eater approximately five years ago. Thanks mostly to my college roommate, who was vegetarian, that influenced much of my taste for healthy food (thanks Jay)! BUT!!!! here goes the but, like the flawed human beings we are, I fell off course. Well, sometimes I intentionally fell off course, I just rebelled.

For the past month and a half I have been eating like a carefree pig. It has affected my discipline, energy level and, my skin. If you know me, you know I am particular about my skin. Therefore, when the pimples became rampant, I decided enough is enough!

Today, I want to commit to getting back on my journey of eating right, working out and taking care of myself. I am excited that a few friends have decided to trod with me and together with each other. Our goals may differ because some are looking to lose baby weight, general eating messy weight, build muscles, tone up or whatever. I would like this to be a forum where we can all support and encourage each other.

We will begin February 23, 2015. My suggestion is that we do this for 4 weeks, develop a habit and go from there. I think I will do meal plans and work-outs based on two categories, Losing Weight & Building Muscles. I will do the meal plans weekly and the work-outs will be the same through-out the 4 weeks. You can and should adjust meals and work-outs to your preference and/or what you know works for your lifestyle. I want to inform everyone that I am in no way a nutritionist, a trainer or, health advisor. This forum is intended to help each other and provide support.

I am also thinking maybe I should come up with a coveted prize for the most successful and committed individual. I haven’t figured out how to measure that just yet. Any suggestions?
