Second Trimester Update

Hey, Loves!

My second trimester pretty much spanned the whole summer. In case you missed my video on how I found out I was pregnant, first trimester, and most common questions I’ve gotten, you can view it HERE. Also did the announce of the gender HERE and a little video sharing a gift I bought for myself once I found out the sex HERE.

Ah, let’s being with update of second trimester. Once I announced to everyone that I was pregnant, I literally was up and about. I took three trips during the summer (The Hamptons, Dallas, and Atlanta). Aside from that, I spent a lot of my weekends out and about with my husband and friends. It was an amazing second trimester. They tell you to expect living your best life during the second trimester and for a minute I wasn’t sure it was true. Things didn’t kick into gear for me until about week 15 of my pregnancy, that’s three weeks past the first trimester. I suddenly started getting my appetite back (that’s when I first realized), I was taking less naps, I had more energy and interest to actually do things and go somewhere.

Ah finally, it is real. I literally forgot many times that I was pregnant. My stomach was growing but from what I’ve noticed I didn’t show much. People were surprised when I told them how far along I was. One theory is that it is because this is my first child, another is that it is because I am tall so I have more space to grow and stretch with a baby. I guess we will see where the third trimester leads me. I still took occasional naps but no where near as many as during my first trimester. My palate came back but not completely. I had cravings but they were not as drastic as during the first. The most important and noticeable thing about my second trimester was to watch, see and feel the baby grow in my stomach. My gosh, it’s such a surreal and unreal experience. She started to kick (flutters) around week 19. At first I didn’t recognize it, I thought it was gas bubbles but what was strange they didn’t lead me to actually passing gas (sorry to be graphic but hang with me here). It was probably on the third occasion I was said to my husband, “babe, I think these are kicks” the baby is kicking. We didn’t know she was a girl then so, ‘the baby’ was what it was called. My poor husband couldn’t feel it but he was happy nonetheless about my experience. Things moved fast and she started rolling and sticking out either her arms, legs or butt. Now my husband could finally feel it. I would guide his hand to where she is and we both are usually in complete awe. I must admit, she’s very busy and she loves to get the action rolling as soon as I lay flat on my back. It’s been an amazing second trimester.

I have also experience intense back acne during my second trimester. It actually began during the first but more so on my chest. Thankfully, the chest ones faded away. I also experienced brutal pregnancy migraines which felt like someone was using a blade to slice a small part of my brain. I knew these were pregnancy migraine because I generally suffer my migraines and I know various types and this was so different. I also had heavy discharge. I know a little graphic but I’m sharing it nonetheless so that if a new mom-to-be wake up with these symptoms, they know it’s completely normal. Simply buy a pack of panty-liners and change as needed.

PS- If this dress looks familiar, you’re right. I posted it HERE on the blog back in 2017 and it looks and feel just as great. It’s completely sold out and so is my sandals from two years ago too. See below a few similar style recommendations.

Thanks for swinging by, Loves. Please let me know if you are a mama-to-be or a new mom, too.

I’m so excited to be on this journey.

xoxo
